Happy Saturday y’all! I’ve been up to a TON of music-related stuff lately. Our band played with Grammy-nominated saxophonist and Northside alum Mindi Abair last weekend, which was a lot of fun! But this week we also had assessments for choir on Wednesday and band on Thursday, in addition to band practices on Monday and Wednesday and musical rehearsal on Thursday. We’ve been running nonstop.

Friday was a bit of a break, so I wore my PBA shirt! Notice the matching blue sparkly bow 🙂

And I just got back from a winter guard competition. I got to see my friends and kiddos perform, and they were amazing!

This Thursday we leave on our band and choir trip. I’m writing this blog on the run, so now I’m gonna turn it over to Emily. Hit it, Ems!

I can definitely relate to the busy life of a musician, Sarah! I am in my school’s production of The Wizard of Oz and I have rehearsals just about every night for about 2 hours. It’s kind of like getting cast for a job, not just for a school show. But I am having so much fun!! We had a work day today and I got to help build the set pieces and get a peek at one of my costumes. This show is gonna be awesome!!

Also, I get to teach Sunday school for the 1st-3rd graders at church on Sunday, and I am super pumped!

Last Friday, I got to sing in a master class! A professor named Dr. King who has a ton of experience and knowledge came and there were several master classes held; singers performed and he helped them get better. I sang in the one just for first year students, and he gave me great comments!

I got all dressed up to perform!

I also got to go to my local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and help clean the facility. Phi Mu’s philanthropy is CMNH so we are always looking for ways to help and support them. We cleaned a stairwell, and between the music and the snapchats, we were probably having too much fun by the end 🙂

Only one more week until Spring Break! Mine is actually at the same time as Sarah’s. I can’t wait to come home to sunshine and family adventures!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

19 years!

So, Wednesday was pretty great because…it was my birthday!

I turned 19 which is hard to believe, and actually is not too different from being 18. However, I am now a legal adult in the state of Alabama where I go to school. So that’s something.

My friends and family really made the day special. My mom sent my presents and cards up to me which I opened during my small window of free time. I was running around to do rehearsals for the Wizard of Oz and for Step Sing(a school wide singing competition) but all of the wonderful people in my life made sure I felt loved! One of my new best friends, Maggie, even got me flowers and Chai Latte tea!!

I wore my favorite new sweater all day, which added to how happy I felt 🙂

I also got a tin of cookies from my mom, and when you open it it plays happy birthday! Also, the cookies are pretty tasty.

My room mate decorated the room, cause she’s so sweet like that. She made paper chains and this!

Such a cute sign!

Overall, it was a wonderful day! God has blessed me so much and I’m excited about the years to come!!

How adorable is she? Happiest of happy birthdays to my dear Ems. Wish I could have been with you to celebrate!

Well, Monday night I went to the All-County band concert. A lot of my friends were in the bands, so we thought it would be fun to go. I had musical rehearsal until 6:30 and the concert started at 7, so we got stuck up in the very top.

Today one of my friends and I had college music auditions. Ems has already gotten past this wonderfully stressful experience, but I’m currently living it.

And because we are awesome, we both totally planned to wear black and white stripes.

Yeah… That was just an awesome coincidence.

Today’s auditions were at Southeastern University, a wonderful college of which our band director is an alum. So he came with us and showed us around the campus.

It was a great day!

So yes, that has been my exciting life. I’ve put my personal blog on a hiatus until next week because of all these auditions and such. On the bright side, I only have three days of school next week.

Awwwww yeah!

Hope you all are enjoying Sochi this year! Go USA!!!!

Happy 2014!

If you’re a fan of cute outfits, baked goods, music, or any combination of the three, then welcome home!  Those three things happen to be passions of ours.

Allow us to introduce ourselves.

My name is Sarah Cate, and  I only have four months left of high school!! I’ve been heavily involved in music since forever, and I love making and performing music. It’s rare to find me not singing. I’m involved in both band and choir at my school, and I’m also involved in a small vocal ensemble called Chambers as well as our jazz band. And I have a lead role in our upcoming spring musical. So when I say I’m heavily involved, I’m not kidding! But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I also enjoy baking. I’m always trying out new recipes I found on Pinterest. The only downside is that Mom makes me do dishes whenever I bake… but it’s worth it.

And we now come to style. I’d consider my style to be sort of conventional hipster. I love wearing cute and trendy clothes, but at the end of the day, I’m going to wear what’s most comfortable. I enjoy wearing dresses and skirts, but most often you’ll find me in jeans. I have lots of gray and black pieces in my closet, although I love colors. I have a lot of name brand pieces, but I rarely go to the mall. Whenever I want a new outfit, the first place I go to is my local Plato’s Closet. I’ve gotten outfits from Charlotte Russe and American Eagle there for less than 10 dollars. Let’s just say that I’ve been thrift shopping longer than Macklemore has.

I got everything in this outfit from Plato's!

Hello Internet! I’m Emily Scott, and Sarah and I have been friends for several years now. I have already left high school (thank goodness!) and have embarked on a new adventure-college. True, I’m only a freshman, but I’m getting the hang of things. I am a music education major with a focus on vocal training; I want to be an elementary music teacher someday. Of course, I love performing as well. I’m hoping to climb up the food chain in the music department and maybe land myself a lead role in a musical before I graduate. This year I’m a dancer, but I’ve got time to earn that spotlight. Life as a music major is crazy busy, but I’m busy doing what I love, so I’m having the time of my life.

When I have down time (so, when I’m home on a break from school) I do like to bake. This past Christmas I did the most baking I ever have. I made cookies that looked like reindeer, gingerbread men, peppermint bark, sugar cookies, and strawberry Santas. It involved a lot of cleaning up in the kitchen, but seeing my brothers enjoy them made it worth it.

I do enjoy fashion, and my room mate can attest for this. I’m always picking out my outfit the night before, and asking her if my shoes match or something. I am very much a Southern girl, so I have my monogram on a lot of my clothes, and other stuff, too. Plus, I am a Phi Mu now, so my letters are appearing on jackets and such. My style is very cutesy and preppy, so I wear pink, flowers, and bows mostly, but I also love things that sparkle. Yeah, I’m 18 and in college. What’s your point?
